Rolfson Oil’s mission is to meet the fuel needs in oil drilling and hydraulic fracturing operations in the North Dakota’s Bakken Shale region.
The Challenge
Delivering a range of fuels and drilling fluids round-the-clock for their crews moving swiftly from well to well over rough terrain, often in extreme weather, is not an easy task. To keep up with their pace, their firm has more than 150 drivers, field technicians and support about 40 delivery trucks with capacities, ranging up to 11,000 gallons.
Each time an order is fulfilled, Rolfson drivers will issue a proof-of-delivery ticket to ensure accurate invoicing and accounting. Prior to their implementation of mobile technology, tickets were pre-printed in their central office before each fuel run. This means that if an order is changed or re-routed to a new destination, which happened frequently, their driver will have to re-calculate their receipt at their delivery site, which their process is prone to human error.
The Solution
With Brother’s RJ Rugged mobile printer, their drivers could use an Apple® iPad mini tablet to calculate their load and distance, create an accurate 4-inch proof-of-delivery ticket on-site and print real-time.
According to Rolfson Oil’s director, their new mobile system has resulted in more accurate and efficient billing, as well as giving their drivers the flexibility to respond to unplanned and re-directed deliveries, improving both their drivers' and customers' satisfaction.
